Gardening 101 is patterned after the Master Gardener Program but structured for the Beginner Gardener. The format is 6 classes that starts with learning about Soil and how to ammend it plus composting. Lesson two is about what flowers grow in our zone, exposures, shade and sun loving plants and where they go in our gardens. Lesson three continues on with plants, water requirements, tools, and a bit on lawn care. Lesson four is all about pests and how to control them with chemicals or organics. Lesson five deals with trees, shrubs, and vines and the final meeting is review and a pot luck graduation dinner. Lots of hand outs are given to every student with suggestions about good books, videos, and sources of information to make their gardening experience a sucessful one.
